Couples counselling
Couples counselling.
Room to reconnect.
Couples counselling with Yousif Farag, Registered Psychotherapist. Sessions help you examine recurring conflict, communicate more openly and consider what your relationship needs.
You may be having the same argument repeatedly, feeling distant, or trying to make sense of a significant change. Sessions give you time to look at the pattern together.
What you can expect
Time for both voices.
We explore what is happening between you and what each partner needs to feel heard.
- Understand the recurring conflict
- Practise clearer communication
- Discuss what repair would involve
Reasons couples seek support
What brings you here?
Couples come with different histories and goals. We can discuss concerns such as:
- Arguments that repeat without resolution
- Feeling unheard, disconnected, or misunderstood
- Difficulties with trust and repairing hurt
- Differences in expectations, family roles, or priorities
- Stress from parenting, work, or life transitions
- Preparing for marriage and discussing future expectations
The work in sessions
Look at the pattern.
Make room for a response.
We slow down the conversations that tend to go wrong. Each partner has time to explain their experience while we examine how the interaction develops and where it becomes difficult.
The work may include expressing a concern without attacking, listening for what your partner is trying to say, setting boundaries, and taking responsibility for your own part in a disagreement.
My approach draws on Family Systems Therapy. Prepare/Enrich can also be considered when an assessment of relationship strengths and concerns would be useful. We discuss the tools that fit your goals.

Before you begin
Questions couples often ask.
The first conversations help us understand your goals and whether working together is appropriate.
Couples counselling usually involves both partners. We discuss the structure of sessions and any individual meetings at the beginning.
My role is to understand each partner’s experience and the interaction between you. We discuss responsibilities, choices, and relationship goals without deciding in advance who is right.
You can bring that uncertainty into the conversation. We can discuss what each of you needs to understand before making decisions about the relationship.
Yes. If these matter to you, we can consider how they shape expectations, decisions, and family relationships. Both partners’ perspectives need room in that discussion.
Virtual appointments are available. Please ask about the format, current availability and whether counselling can be provided where you are located.
